Off to Eton on Wednesday to flog The Well-Tempered Clavier. It was absolutely pouring.

Idle Tom the Publisher running around like a headless monkey, squawking that his books were going to get wet.

It’s the school parents’ day, the Fourth of June. George III’s birthday, dontcha know? Still celebrating it more than two centuries on.

So Idle Tom the Publisher and I met up to shake hands and formally sign the deal. The deal, that is, for Book Number 2 - the ultra top-secret Project X.

Missed out on a day blogging. I’ve been working. Working! Terribly hard. At my journalism. Which, I fear, is always destined to pay me far more than will ever come from Idle Tom the Publisher.

Doing a book session in the Jewish Orthodox capital of Britain, Hackney, on a Saturday afternoon … now that was tough. Pretty damn tough.
 
Not a single one of ‘em was even allowing themselves to set foot in the library.
