The author’s first careless rapture - the picture:

Wednesday, May 14th, 2008

Just come across an old picture of me and Idle Tom the Publisher; it’s of the pair of us in quieter, more innocent times, when we first set out on this Clavier venture.

If ever there were a picture which said ten thousand words, this is it.

It has a smack of that first careless rapture, of […]

Will Idle Tom be my running mate?

Tuesday, May 13th, 2008

Just signed up for The Seven Hills Run in Edinburgh; an absolute bargain as these races go, just nine quid, which roughly works out at 60p a mile.

It’s on Father’s Day, June 16. What a singularly appropriate way to celebrate the joys of parenthood.

Only one thing left to do …

Call up Idle Tom the Publisher […]

Genius at work …

Monday, May 12th, 2008

Now I know that a lot of my blog-readers imagine that I’m a cerebral sorta guy. I mean obviously you know that I was one of Mensa’s youngest members (joined at the age of 4 years, 5 months and 3 days); and a few of you also probably know that I achieved a Double First […]

Idle Tom gets some stickers made up! Finally …

Proof positive - if ever it were needed - that the Idle Publisher’s book cover for The Well-Tempered Clavier is KILLING sales.

Crucifying them, more like.

Just received a ch-ch-charming e-mail from a teacher at a girls’ school, where apparently the Clavier book is whistling around the music department. (Slightly concerned to see that it appears to […]

Join our campaign for a new cover for The Clavier!

Idle Tom the Publisher has been badgering me non-stop with tips from the Chicken Soup guy’s book on how to turn yourself from a Z-lister into an A-lister.

Good for him.

Though it is always going to be a Big Ask trying to make a silk purse out of a sow’s ear such as Tom.

I, however, have […]

My TRASHIONISTA debut

Wednesday, May 7th, 2008

TRASHIONISTA - one of the big websites for readers of romantic fiction.

I was eager to get in there.

Obviously I wasn’t going to be able to get them to read The Well-Tempered Clavier.

Least of all get a review on the site.

However … I did have one trick up my sleeve: The Guest Blog!

How I am coming […]

Making Idle Tom’s dreams come true

Tuesday, May 6th, 2008

"Heyyyy!"

It was Idle Tom the Publisher.

"Tom," I said. "It’s seven in the morning. On a Bank Holiday Monday."

"Certainly is," said Tom. "Listen - if I were to ask you to a party, and you had to dress like you’d dress in 2013, assuming that all your dreams had come true, then how would you dress?"

"Umm. […]

Idle Tom’s got a guru …

Monday, May 5th, 2008

On Friday, I had one of the most surreal conversations of my life - and I’ve had a few, I can tell you.

Posh Spice going mad at me; Elton John going mad at me; Chris de Burgh going mad at me; Neil Wallis going mad at me; Jonathan Ashby going mad at me; Ivana Trump […]
