All about Eve
Idle Tom the publisher calls for our morning conference.
“Hey!” he says. “Have you seen this stuff in Eve magazine?”
“Certainly have.”
“But we’ve never had a hit before in Eve magazine! It’s brilliant!”
“Well … very sweet of you to say so Tom.”
“Come on - tell me how you did it. What strings did you have to pull?”
“Just a string here, a string there, you know the sort of thing.”
“It’s magnificent!”
Here, then is what we managed to wangle into the April edition of Eve magazine, under a picture of the ever gorgeous Keira Knightley. It’s a story about “coming-of-age novels” …
“Hotly-tipped new talent William Coles, whose novel The Well-Tempered Clavier [Legend Press £7.99]describes the love affair between a 17-year-old and his 23-year-old piano mistress, chose Eton as his setting.
”"I’ve tried to give a flavour of the strange life of a schoolboy in a place where there’s not a girl in sight, while capturing what it’s like to be overcome by emotions you’ve never felt before - such as passion, lust and jealousy …”
“I LOVE IT!” said Idle Tom. “They even call you a Hotly-tipped new talent! And they got our name right! For once!”
“Cool.”
“But just one thing … is there any chance you could use your great, great contacts at Eve to help plug some of our other books? Please? Pretty please?”
