William Coles

Come and join my posse

Still not bought a signed copy of The Well-Tempered Clavier yet for your granny?

Maybe your baby-sitter might like one too.

And I hear that the book is also going down pretty well with the kids; teenage lads especially.

Well, it’s still not too late to get yourself down to Waterstone’s this morning - Saturday, 11am until stocks run out, at the George Street branch in Edinburgh. (The smartest branch, by the way.)

Outside, lurking with welcoming smiles, will be my "posse". I don’t know how quite to quantify a posse, but I kind of figure that it’s definitely more than one.

And my posse will definitely have at least two people in it. Maybe more. There will be Sean the Big Issue seller, fresh from his beat at Waverley station, and Ellie the fourth-year student, who will be taking time off from her studies to help flog the book; a very worthy cause.

But I’m just getting the tinglings of a good idea.

What I’m going to do is press-gang any amenable book-buyers into joining the posse.

If you want to come along and buy my book, then that’s fantastic.

But do expect to be given a fistful of fliers and ordered to get cracking on all the punters out on the streets.

Oh - and one thing more. Wrap up warm! It’s

co-o-o-o-ld out there this morning!
