Making Idle Tom’s dreams come true
"Heyyyy!"
It was Idle Tom the Publisher.
"Tom," I said. "It’s seven in the morning. On a Bank Holiday Monday."
"Certainly is," said Tom. "Listen - if I were to ask you to a party, and you had to dress like you’d dress in 2013, assuming that all your dreams had come true, then how would you dress?"
"Umm. Bit early for this one Tom. So you want me to dress up as if I’m going to a party in five years time - and as if everything has turned out just as I’d want it?"
"Yeah! That’s right!" said Tom. "It’s part of all this success stuff that I’m getting from the chicken soup guy Jack Canfield. "(Looking to get your life on track? Check out Tom’s mentor here …)
"OK." I said. "Do you know I’m still in bed, Tom? I haven’t even had a cup of tea yet?"
"Get on with it," he said. "What are you wearing in five years time? What are you up to in five years?"
"Well … well obviously I’m a bestselling author. The Clavier is being made into a movie. And maybe I’ve got a great newspaper column too."
"Yes!" he said. "It’s the power of positive thinking! You’ve got to start going through Canfield’s book, I tell you, and then your dreams will come too."
"So are you going to have this party or what? Or is it all still at the theoretical stage?"
"I might have the party. Possibly." he said. "Maybe for my authors."
"It’s just that if this dream scenario from 2013 takes place, I’m wondering what the hell you’d be doing there …"
