More promises from Idle Tom

For the first time I’ve received some feedback - official feedback - from one of the events that I’ve attended.

The organisers of last week’s Kensal Library panel got the 32-strong audience to fill out some appraisal forms: Four said it was excellent; 14 rated it very good; and one said it was "Ok".

Not too bad so far, eh?

The best bit though was the comments section. Here are a select few:

* "More from Judith." Quite right.

* "Very interesting but could have stuck more to the topic." How true.

* "Lovely." I certainly was.

And finally …

* "The publisher should have been here to talk about his role." Really?? You don’t say.

Meanwhile … and on an entirely different subject, tonight - Tuesday night - I’m doing a couple of events in Havering, East London. Full details on the calendar, but my theme will be romance.

Some other people, like Lee the author, and Idle Tom the publisher, were also supposed to be there.

Guess what’s happened …

Now I know this might seem to be a slightly well-worn theme about my publisher, but …

This is the text that I’ve just received from Idle Tom:

"Hi Bill, Lee now can’t make it due to work - but goin to rush back from meetin and stand in for him in evenin. Be good to catch up anyway. Tom"

Chances of Tom turning up? What do you reckon? Maybe ten per cent? Probably closer to five.

Anyway - should you turn up to either of the Havering library events, all you have to do is say the magic words - "Your name is Bill Coles and I claim my free drink", and it will my pleasure to get you the booze of your choice.

    They provide us with free alcohol and then expect us to stick to topic? Notice Judith was the one not drinking. Good feedback, though, pleased about that. I’m sure I stuck to topic, and have the recordings to prove it. :-)
